Restrict access by physical device?

Ideally, I'd like to be able to tie a certain user to a certain device, and only allow connections to devices that have been configured and authenticated server-side. For example, If someone were to move their ovpn profile from their laptop to their desktop, I'd like the desktop connection to fail. Is this possible?

I have been looking around for this very same answer but I believe the answer is no. Short of having some sort of MDM solution to authenticate the device is what you claim it is, OpenVPN has no way to prove which device is which.
