With the new ios 10.1.1 openvpn tunnel is always active

This is because the option:

Settings > screen and brightness > up to activate

constantly maintains the active tunnel, even display off

If you disable that function everything is as before

It's probably because you have an iPhone 7 or 7+.
No such problem with my iPhone 6 or iPad Air 2

I also suffer from the same problem on my iphone 6. When I activate the openVPN application whether on wifi or 3G network my battery starts to go down quickly. I think it is due to some bug or new configuration of the last version, because in the previous ones I do not remember this happening.

Has anyone found a solution yet?

Hello.

I now have an iphone X with iOS 11.2.1 and the problem of the application draining fast the battery keeps. Which no longer happens in my 2 ipads. From what I've been investigating in the application log, as soon as ios goes into sleep mode on the iphones the application soon loses the connection and tries to reconnect to the server. On the ipad by the logs, the times when the connections are disconnected and connect are with differences of minutes, while in the iphone are differences of seconds.

Will this be fixed in the next update @ordex ?

This is likely due to the API change in iOS. The current release is probably unable to properly detect the sleep event due to the API change.
The new release, using the new API, should not have this problem anymore.

Okay.

It's good that it's going to be solved!

Will the new version be released soon?
