Preferences Connection Timeout Options

Post by NOYB » Thu Jun 01, 2017 9:21 pm

"How long should OpenVPN try to connect before giving up?"
There are several finite options ranging from 15 seconds to 2 minutes, and also continuously retry.

I have a few questions re: some details about the connection timeout option.

1) With the seamless tunnel option enabled, "block internet while VPN is paused or reconnecting", if the connection is not (re)established within the timeout window, is internet then allowed without VPN?

2) What is the retry timing interval of the continuously retry option? For instance does it use a staggered/dynamic interval similar to DHCP retries? Or is it a fixed interval? What is the retry interval? (context is predominantly re: battery usage)

3) Will using the continuously retry option prevent all internet access without a VPN connection?

Here is what I'd like.

Connection (WiFi) white list for which internet access is allowed without VPN. All others (WiFi and mobile data, etc) require VPN. Effective automatically at boot.
