Importing .ovpn file on Chromebook

Postby e5j » Fri May 19, 2017 3:11 am

Google allows Android apps on some Chromebooks, mine is one of those models. I have OpenVPN Connect installed and my .ovpn file in the SDCard. When I go to import the .ovpn file I am given a directory structure like you'd see on a phone. Alarms, Android, DCIM, Download, Movies, Music, etc.

This file structure does not match what is on my SDCard so I suspect this is hard-coded into the OpenVPN Connect app rather than going out and looking for a mounted SDCard to read. I am able to click up directory levels to / and into /etc and other OS directories but I am unable to find the SDCard files. If I open File Manager in ChromeOS I am able to see my files on the SDCard.

I'm not sure what to do here and am hoping someone knows and has seen it before. I need OpenVPN access on the road and everything I have tried to manually add a OpenVPN client config natively in ChromeOS has been a trainwreck. Never get past first base. My thinking is this OpenVPN Connect app will do something right with my working .ovpn file that ChromeOS natively can't figure out.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Is your SDCard mounted under your user home directory ?
