connection through http proxy with authentication

is connection through a http proxy that requires authentication supported?
i have tried to set up the proxy setting within the app but connection failed
the log file showed that the proxy server requested authentication, but there is no promt/pop-op to ask for a username/password
i have also tried to include the proxy settings in the config file but the android app cannot import such profile
