OpenVPN TAP mode packet transfer leads to different md5sum

Post by mike55 » Tue Feb 24, 2015 12:25 am

Hello,

I am trying to setup a OpenVPN tunnel in the "tap" mode so that I can mirror all the ethernet traffic on the client to the open vpn server via the tap0. While doing so, I am using "udp" mode and with "fragment 1400; mssfix". WHat I have noticed is that whenever I try to download a file on the client, the file gets mirrored on to the server, where bro IDS is monitoring and extracting the files, but the md5sum of the file does not match and is different every time the same file gets downloaded.

What configurations am I missing? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

What????

openvpn is simply encapsulating l2/l3 traffic , openvpn daemon does NOT copies/caches files in any way.

what other software runs on your openvpn server btw?
