Unable to use the search feature in any meaningful way

Hi

I am unable to get the search to work on this website.

It always returns

Code: Select all

The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: via dhcp lan.
You must specify at least one word to search for. Each word must consist of at least 3 characters and must not contain more than 14 characters excluding wildcards.
And example of a search that would return the above is dhcp over lan.

Can someone direct me in how this works?

Thanks.

Oh god, they implemented that community poison here too?

“Hey, those most common queries generate the most traffic. Let’s block exactly those, and kill the whole damn point of the search!“

It’s the dumbest thing ever, in the history of all forum software forever until the end of all time.

They did that over at the Gentoo forums too and it effectively destroyed the search functionality.

There’s nothing you can do, unless Google has the forums indexed and you can use their search.

There should be a cruel and nasty law against things that dumb.

For your personal edification I include this general example:

Type into Google:

Code: Select all

site: forums.openvpn.net "redirect-gateway"
Or click here:
https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q= ... gateway%22
Pro tip. I love Google's site: feature.

This was broken by me, but I've fixed it now.

I am afraid it is not fixed for me. Tr getting a result searching for "client-to-client" ping each other. Alternatively windows 7.
every word gets filtered out. I suggest removing the search box if searching via google is the recommended way because this is very frustrating

No. You haven't.

Code: Select all

The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: kaspersky.
You must specify at least one word to search for. Each word must consist of at least 3 characters and must not contain more than 14 characters excluding wildcards.

Is there any chance of this actually being fixed? What is the point of having forums if you can't search them?

Definitely something involving genitals and high voltage.
