Game Server Backend VPN Protection

Hello dear community.
I kind of see this topic as my last resort as I've tried and researched a lot but can't find the right solution.
Here's an explanation of what I'm trying to achieve:
I have a backend dedicated server running on Windows Server 2012 R2.
On that server I am planning to run a MMORPG based game server.
Game-Server and Game-Client works prefectly fine when I use the real IP of the dedicated server.
I however want to protect the real IP of the dedicated server.
I don't know if this is the best way to do it but after some research I came to the conclusion that I could achieve this by renting a VPS which runs on Windows Server aswell, then establish a VPN connect between VPS and Backend and make the Players/Game Client users connect to the VPS instead of the backend. The VPS should then forward the TCP packets (including user IP's) to the backend and then the backend sends info back via VPS to the user.
The game client needs arround 25 TCP ports to be forwarded to the backend.
Any suggestions on how i can achieve this would be very much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
