OpenVPN Connect not re-writing /etc/resolv.conf

Post by dkerr » Wed Dec 14, 2016 8:27 pm

I'm using openvpnas v2.1.4 and openvpn connect (for mac) 2.1.3.110.

When connecting to my VPN my local /etc/resolv.conf isn't being over-written with the DNS info supplied in my server.

When I connect with the 2.0.x.x series clients it works.

Was there a configuration or syntax change that I need to implement? I don't see anything obvious in the web admin panel.

Thanks

https://openvpn.net/index.php/access-se ... -v200.html

And yes, should be obvious differences in the Advanced VPN settings

Check under VPN Settings if you have the DNS Resolution Zones field set. If you do, DNS will not be implemented in /etc/resolv.conf or system wide but only for specific zones and this happens in a deeper level in the OS. Just empty out the field and the old behavior should be right back.
I'm still alive, just posting under the openvpn_inc alias now as part of a larger group.
