Hi! I have a wish that OpenVPN App for iOS should accept TAP to enable layer 2 packets. Our VPN server provider says that their server only accept TAP, not TUN.
Or do anybody have a work-around for this? It seems to NOT be able to get the server accept TUN, so it is on the client side the job has to be done...
Need for TAP

Re: Need for TAP
I'm assuming that this was an iOS restriction—specifically, that iOS didn't support Layer 2/TAP for VPNs. However, it has been a long time since the initial OpenVPN Connect for iOS. Can someone confirm whether this iOS restriction still exists? I don't see any technical reason why Apple wouldn't allow it (it's always possible); only business/political reasons.

Re: Need for TAP
It is definitely an apple restriction that disables tap. GuizmOVPN which requires a jailbreak does tap.
I don't see apple changing their mind about this because it would allow lan only services like iTunes home sharing, wireless syncing and airplay to work over the internet.
