Hi,
I have an issue sending traffic via the VPN connection when both networks have the same networks; 192.168.1.0 /24. After VPN connection traffic for the local network seems not to go trough the tunnel. What can I do to fix this?
Kind regards,
Rob

Configure your networks properly.

Both networks are configured correctly. They have the same network configuration. Both 192.168.1.0/24. The networks are on a different location. It appears that local addresses have preference over sending all traffic to the tunnel.

That is not properly.rwalle wrote:They have the same network configuration. Both 192.168.1.0/24
That is how networks work and why you need unique networks on either end.rwalle wrote:It appears that local addresses have preference over sending all traffic to the tunnel.
Also,
- NOTE: your local LAN uses the extremely common subnet address 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x. Be aware that this might create routing conflicts if you connect to the VPN server from public locations such as internet cafes that use the same subnet.
- You are advised to change your server LAN to a more unique RFC1918 compliant subnet.
For example: 192.168.143.0/24

I realize now I haven't been thorough. The OpenVPN client connects and gets an private IP address in the 10.0.0.0 range. But local traffic is not sent to the tunnel. When the local networks are different there is no issue. The traffic is sent correctly through the tunnel.
