OpenVPN client config

Hi

I'm new to all this so please forgive me. Anyway I had a thin client device and was using FreeS/Wan client which had following configuration in the config file:

'gateway'
'Destination subnet'
'Key'

OpenVPN client seems to have so many more fields including certificate related. Can I configure Openclient to only have the fields above, without certificate info? Also if I want to set encryption to 3DES SHA1 how do I enter that in the file in the correct format.
