PIA + Split tunneling ?

Hi, I'm an OpenVPN + PIA user and have had immense trouble trying to get around Twitch blocking me from the site with my VPN on. I have read like a dozen threads explaining how to split tunnel but no matter what it never seems to work for me. What I do is this:
- Open sample-config
- Open client config in notepad form
- At the end of the whole document add this line route 104.82.250.245 255.255.255.0 net_gateway
- 104.82.250.245 is the ip of "whatismyipaddress.com", such that I can easily test if the method has worked
- Every time it doesnt work, and it still detects my VPN ip rather than my real IP

Im getting really frustrated by this problem as its very inconvenient to constantly switch off and on my VPN - any help as to what i'm doing wrong here?

(Also the irony, its blocking me from posting EVEN HERE with my OpenVPN client on as its a blacklisted IP, that makes no sense)

Were you ever able to figure out how to do this? I am in the same boat as you as well currently....
