Switched from vBulletin to XenForo and am never going back. VB 3 rocked. VB 4 is a waste of space.

vBulletin 4 is very powerful and probably the best move you may move to. I feel that a lot of site that run vBulletin 4 runs faster for some reason. Is this true?

I manage a phpBB forum and am planning to migrate to a newer version of phpBB, I hadn't even considered using other fora... but the main issue is the migration itself. I imagine there are no automatic migrating scripts when moving from one fora software to another... or is there :?:

I've been doing some coding and have a functional LDAP plugin for vBulletin. We're looking to migrate away from phpBB

Both are excellent forums but I have a soft spot for Vbulletin just seems to make more sense.Just choose one quickly and get on track to create your forum.
Good luck migrating!

You don't need to do this, vb is great, but phpbb is not bad, that you'd be able to keep it this way.

I mostly agree wit this comment. I started using vB back in the 2.X days, the good ol days when hacking was done by hand, not a plug in system(dont get me wrong I love the plug in system at times but miss the old days). I watched vB mature over many years but I feel like vBulletin really lost focus when 4.0 arrived on the scene. Awhile back one of the key devs also started feeling this way and he split off to start the XenForo project. I garbed a copy through certain channels just to play with it and see what it was like and I have to say it is everything vBulletin should be. I am not to keen on the particulars of it, but I know it gave off a very profesional look and feel, more so then vBulletin. If I ever buy a forum script in the future, I will not hesitate to spend my money on XenForo.
